The Plantasia Story
Plantasia Nursery was founded in 1992, fulfilling a 30+ year dream of owner, Bill Kroll. Plantasia specializes in quality container-grown plants, including rare and unusual trees and shrubs, as well as a large selection of popular trees, shrubs, perennials and grasses.
Plantasia is located on 60 acres in beautiful Central New York State with 10 acres of production. We serve clients from Binghamton to Corning, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany and parts of Pennsylvania.
Cited by Cornell University and Cooperative Extension as a leader in environmentally-friendly nursery practices, Plantasia uses on-site spring fed ponds to irrigate, collecting and recycling the water for later use, and uses minimal chemical applications.
Bill and Doris Kroll's extensive background in customer service, sales and merchandising not to mention breadth and depth of knowledge of plants has created one of the premier nurseries in the state.

Bill Kroll, founder and owner of Plantasia, received his B.S. in floriculture and ornamental horticulture from Cornell University in 1963.
Despite growing up in Brooklyn, Bill became interested in horticulture through his grandfather, an avid backyard gardener. Bill attended a special agricultural high school and worked summers at a large nursery on Long Island. During those years, he began to dream of someday owning his own nursery.
This dream was on-hold for 30 years, though. Bill and his wife, Doris, owned a successful automated lawn maintenance business for 10 years. After selling that business, they developed one of the largest Christian bookstores in the state.
While they still had the bookstore, Bill decided it was time to pursue his dream. He started Plantasia in 1992 as a hobby, then as a retirement business. It was not meant to stay so small, though: in 1995, they sold the bookstore and concentrated their energies in developing Plantasia into the quality nursery it has become.
Bill Kroll is President of Region 8 of the New York State Nursery and Landscape Association (NYSNLA) as well as a member of the American Conifer Society, and is a Certified Nursery Landscape Professional (CNLP).
