The Plantasia Story Twenty years ago, PLANTASIA was born. What began as a vision of avid horticulturist Bill Kroll grew and flourished into a quality wholesale nursery, selling unique trees, shrubs, perennials and grasses to garden centers and landscapers across upstate New York and neighboring regions. PLANTASIA became a recognized name in the area and today, the acres of container-grown plants present a beautiful array of texture, color and contrast fit to satisfy any landscaping needs. Many visitors to the nursery enjoy meandering through the rows of beautiful plants almost as much as the moment in which they locate the perfect specimen. In 2008, Bill and Doris transferred ownership of the nursery to Kevin and Anne McKenna. Working closely together during the transition, all are still intent on maintaining the high quality and service customers have come to expect from PLANTASIA. With a background in plant biology and research in both industry and academia, Kevin brings a fresh perspective to the nursery, and, in conjunction with garden centers and landscapers, Kevin & Anne are committed to providing the best product, whether it be to homes, businesses, universities, hospitals or highways. After all, nature's beauty, exemplified in plants, is exceedingly refreshing for the soul and for the spirit. PLANTASIA is very fortunate to have a hard-working, dedicated and knowledgeable staff ready to help our customers. Kevin oversees the daily operational responsibilities. You can also find Jen, Cindy, Carrie, and occasionally Jack busy in the fields or barns, performing any number of tasks necessary to care for the plants, but always willing and eager to provide assistance as needed. Tina provides administrative support as well as keeping the inventory in order. Everyone works very hard and takes a lot of pride in the tasks they perform. Moreover, they love to share their knowledge and experience with all who visit the nursery. PLANTASIA nursery stock includes many weeping varieties, cloned seedlings, grafts, rare and unique specimens (e.g. Acer palmatum 'Sharp's Pygmy', Pinus aristata 'Bristlecone Pine', Sciadopitys verticillata 'Japanese Umbrella Pine'), newer variety shrubs (e.g. Cornus kousa 'Pendula', Magnolia virginiana 'Sweetbay'), and rows of beautiful & unusual perennials, as well as providing a large variety of grasses. Responding to input from our customers, we are currently expanding our small fruit and fruit tree selections. Although we are primarily a wholesale nursery, PLANTASIA invites retail customers to visit the nursery at any time.
